Latin America primary sources
- Latin America Primary SourcesThese books contain primary sources from different countries and eras. They are shelved in the Primary Sources collection opposite the library front desk. Be aware that not everything in each book will be a primary source - if you're not sure, ask a librarian or your teacher.
Many universities have Libguides relating to Latin American History - just search "Latin America (or your country) primary sources libguide". Some of the links will be to open access sites; however some will not be accessible as they require you to have a university log in.
Mexico: PS Books

Mexican History by ISBN: 9780813343341Publication Date: 2009-09-08This book is great because it includes some context for each primary source. It also has suggested further readings after each source, which will be helpful when you're looking for secondary sources.
The Mexico Reader by ISBN: 0822330067Publication Date: 2003-01-16This book has many primary sources from before Columbus to the present day. Be careful, though, some of the pieces in here are NOT primary sources, but essays not written by an eyewitness.
Mexico OtherWise by ISBN: 9780826323132Publication Date: 2005-07-01This books focuses on modern times, from 1800 onwards. As the title suggests, the writers are all from outside of Mexico. It is not in our catalog, but we do have a copy.
